Our reconditioned IBC totes offer the performance and reliability of a new container at a significantly lower price point. Each unit goes through a comprehensive multi-step reconditioning process at our facility, performed by trained technicians who follow strict quality control protocols. The process begins with a thorough visual inspection of the cage, bottle, pallet, and all fittings. Any container that shows excessive wear, UV degradation, hairline cracks, or structural cage damage is rejected and recycled — it never enters our reconditioned inventory. Units that pass initial inspection move to the cleaning stage, where the interior bottle is hot-washed under pressure using commercial-grade cleaning agents to remove all residue and film from previous contents. After cleaning, every container undergoes hydrostatic pressure testing to verify that the bottle and all seals can hold liquid without leaking. All gaskets are replaced with new OEM-equivalent seals, and the discharge valve is inspected, cleaned, and tested for smooth operation and drip-free closure. Finally, old labels are removed, the exterior cage is cleaned, and the container receives a new reconditioning date label and certification sticker. The result is a container that looks, functions, and performs like new — backed by our quality guarantee and ready for immediate deployment in demanding commercial and industrial environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a used IBC and a reconditioned IBC?

A used IBC has been cleaned and visually inspected but retains its original gaskets, valve, and fittings. A reconditioned IBC goes through a far more rigorous process: full cleaning, hydrostatic pressure testing, new gaskets, valve overhaul, structural inspection, and DOT/UN recertification. Reconditioned IBCs are essentially restored to like-new condition and carry a recertification label. They cost more than basic used totes but less than new, and they are suitable for more demanding applications where reliability and compliance are critical.

Are reconditioned IBCs DOT and UN approved for transport?

Yes. Our reconditioned IBCs are recertified to UN 31HA1 performance standards and carry a current reconditioning date label. They are approved for the transport of non-hazardous and many hazardous liquids by road, rail, and sea, depending on the specific UN rating and the product being transported. Always verify that the specific UN rating on the container matches the requirements for your product before shipping.

How long do reconditioned IBCs last?

A reconditioned IBC with a new set of gaskets and a verified bottle can typically provide 2-4 additional years of service depending on usage, UV exposure, and the type of contents stored. The reconditioning process extends the useful life of the container by addressing the most common failure points — worn gaskets, stiff valves, and compromised seals — while confirming the structural integrity of the bottle and cage.

Can I use a reconditioned IBC for food-grade applications?

Yes, we offer reconditioned IBCs that are specifically processed for food-grade use. These units are cleaned with FDA-approved agents, triple-rinsed, and certified for food-contact applications. If you need food-grade reconditioned IBCs, please specify this when requesting your quote so we can pull the appropriate inventory.

What happens if a reconditioned IBC fails your inspection?

If an IBC fails any step of our reconditioning process — whether it is a cracked bottle, a bent cage, a warped pallet, or a failed pressure test — it is rejected from our reconditioned inventory. Failed units are disassembled: salvageable parts like steel cages and pallets are sold separately, and HDPE bottles are sent for recycling. We never sell a reconditioned IBC that has not passed every stage of our quality control process.
